The Skilled Crafts Project

Why this project?

In many African countries the economy is growing rapidly. The world of work is changing just as quickly. Cooperation between the private sector and vocational and technical skills training is an important building block for development. Countries can only successfully tap into the economic potential within the skilled crafts and trades sector if they have well-trained specialists and experts.

You can see our project flyer in German here.

What exactly does Skilled Crafts do?

The Skilled Crafts project uses the expertise of German craftspeople to promote practice-oriented development cooperation between Germany and partners in sub-Saharan Africa. African companies, vocational training centres and associations in various trades receive practical expertise and advice. As a result, they are better equipped for future success.

The cooperation that we initiate, support and accompany in the crafts and trades sector takes many forms! Take a look at the Examples of cooperation for some examples. Our craftspeople are on the road as trainers, consultants, mentors and much more! Through short-term assignments, craft projects and long-term partnerships, practical knowledge is passed on to local partners. A craftsfund also offers financial support for particularly innovative ideas.

Through the individual assignments and projects we are building an international network in the skilled crafts and trade sector. This also includes our Crafts Forum, in which one can exchange ideas on skilled crafts and trades for development. Our Newsletter also reports on current activities. Events further support the expansion of our network.

Part of our work is also to ensure that German craftspeople are adequately prepared and equipped for international development work. We offer various Further training for German craftspeople. We also have regular Events .
